Job Description

At Mitchell Experience Design, we know extraordinary design begins by deeply understanding people.  Researchers on our team are committed to learning people’s mindset, emotions, behaviors and unmet needs, and then collaboratively designing and developing beautiful software that evokes desirable experiences and delivers value to our customers.




  • Formalize comprehensive user research strategy which aligns with business goals and consistently delivers value
  • Establish user research principles, best practices and standardized assets to promote consistency and efficiency
  • Define and refine policies, processes and procedures to operationalize an agile user research cadence
  • Partner with Agile Product Delivery teams to identify research opportunities and ensure actionable findings
  • Oversee and prioritize the backlog of user research activities, the research calendar and participant pool
  • Define appropriate research plans to achieve desired business outcomes within project constraints
  • Conduct primary user research employing surveying, ethnographic observations, and interviewing
  • Create empathy maps, experience maps, journey maps and user personas
  • Conduct usability evaluations including card sorts, think-aloud and tasked-based performance studies
  • Compile, analyze and share usability findings and provide design recommendations
  • Lead change, provide mentoring and facilitate workshops to align, inspire and engage others



  • BS/BA in Usability, Human Factors, Cog Sci, Psychology or related field, Masters is preferred
  • 8+ years of hands on experience planning, coordinating and conducting user research activities
  • Expert knowledge of user research methodologies and user-centered design best practices
  • Strong analytical skills and experience extracting insights from qualitative and quantitative data
  • Tenacity to tirelessly evangelize and continually demonstrate the value of research activities
  • Proven effectiveness championing user’s needs and customers’ best interests within cross-functional teams
  • Unbridled passion for empathetically engaging people to establish trust and enable candid communication
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategic vision and then execute despite obstacles
  • Inspirational leadership skills and capacity to align disparate viewpoints
  • A lifelong love of collaboration and learning
  • An optimistic, positive attitude
