    What you will be doing:

     

    The Oracle Database/BI Developer will be responsible for the analysis, design, validation, and implementation of enterprise-wide Oracle database development including data modeling, ETL, and Performance tuning with exposure to reporting tools like Tableau, SSRS and SSAS.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Strong hands-on experience developing complex database processes using PL/SQL for data warehouse ETL functionality.
    • Exploits RDBMS software, database management tools and utilities, data warehouse and replication techniques to implement requirements to enhance our database solutions.
    • Requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and documentation.
    • Provides expertise in devising, negotiating and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.
    • Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
    • Adapts business requirements, developed by modeling/development staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for an application.
    • Determines how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.
    • Documents and communicates database design.
    • Assist Business Intelligence development team to understand data and design to meet user requirements
    • Participate in database and coding performance tuning activities
    • Participates in quality assurance and develops test cases to ensure software meets business requirements.
    • Provides QA/UAT/PROD deployment support and production support; Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation
    • Involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle and demonstrates ability to learn both the business process as well as new and existing technologies
    • Stays apprised of changes and innovations in Oracle’s information technology space, including new features, bug/fixes and compatibility concerns with operating systems and utilities.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or related equivalent experience and two plus year’s professional experience in database administration and software systems development.
      • A minimum of 5 years related I.T. experience.
      • Strong programming/development skills using PL/SQL (package, procedures, functions, triggers) batch coding skills, parallel processing and Shell scripting.
      • Solid experience designing partitioned and non-partitioned tables, indexes, temporary tables and external tables to maximize storage and performance.
      • Strong SQL development, SQL analytics and tuning skills.
      • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in database management techniques including physical database optimization, data distribution, database performance monitoring and data governance.
      • Comprehensive experience with BI stack/methodologies, Dimensional modelling. 
      • Knowledge and awareness of networking issues pertaining to database design, optimization, and implementation within client server and web architecture.
      • Proficient in support duties such as performance tuning, monitoring and resolving production issues.
      • Proficient with PL/SQL, Shell scripting.
      • Strong analytical and organizational skills, oral and written communications skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
      • Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible, work independently or as part of a team, and ability to self-motivate and be proactive.
      • Exposure to reporting tools like Tableau, SSRS and SSAS.
