Job Description

This Information Systems Engineer performs IT-related functions, such as analysis, evaluation, testing, maintenance, and implementation of applications/programs in support of the Windows-based product lines as well as the secondary, related applications. Acquires, analyzes, installs, modifies, and supports operating systems, databases, and application software for full-stack utilization. Plans, conducts and directs the analysis of business issues and solves problems, including with automated systems. This person should contribute to the evaluation and design of systems or infrastructure architecture used, as well as the implementation of such. The candidate is expected to be both internal- and external- focused as it relates to the clients/customers, and works in conjunction with various Mitchell groups across various functions. Responsibilities include ensuring that our enterprise web-enabled solutions are working as expected according to SLAs.


General Functions:

This position is responsible for software & server maintenance around the primary Mitchell CSG product lines and the associated products/applications, as set forth by the Senior Director of CSG Operations. This includes formulating logical statements of system computing problems and devising solutions to the same.  Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting and improving system functionality by installing/upgrading and maintenance of the product lines.


Internally and externally, the position will have interaction with IT, technical support, PD, and various other business personnel for the purposes of high-end support and production-level troubleshooting as well as frequent interaction with members of the development team for program coordination in the Agile process.


The position requires strong automation and troubleshooting abilities, as well as excellent communication skills and the capacity to work as a self-starter with a high-level of personal initiative. Presence at Mitchell is required.





Supervision Received:

The Manager of ACS Operations will monitor the work of the I.S. Engineer 3, but the individual will typically be required to choose between various alternate procedures, based on the situation, to get the job done with limited input.


Scope & Dimensions:

This position will primarily have indirect involvement with the workings of Mitchell clients (with some exceptions), but the quality of work put forth by the individual will have a direct impact on the success of the product line as it relates to customer utilization. Decisions made in this position could make an operational/production impact on Mitchell clients.


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for troubleshooting and fixing product-related problems.
  2. Responsible for product installations/upgrades and maintenance of the applications and underlying servers.
  3. Does troubleshooting of issues at the server and application level, including reviewing IIS logs and errors in the SQL database.
  4. Accomplishes tasks according to reasonable schedule set forth.
  5. Adheres to the SOPs and standards set forth by Mitchell.
  6. Tests changes ensuring high quality is the standard.
  7. Communicates major issues/problems as they arise, giving input as to a solution.
  8. Maintains confidentiality and works together with other teams to coordinate efforts.
  9. Ensures functionality matches expectations.

  1. Provides feedback to management regarding significant issues that may arise.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • A self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Possess strong attention to detail as a meticulous, diligent worker.
  • Requires a minimum of 7 years’ experience with the following systems:
  • Windows Server - 2008 R2, 2012
  • SQL Server – 2012, 2016
  • Application administration support - .NET & IIS
  • Transactional B2B communications - XML, SOAP, IBMMQ, JBOSS
  • Document management application administration/implementation
  • Experience with creating automation for installations and server management
  • MS Certifications a plus.
