    Job Description

    As part of Mitchell’s APD Product Delivery Software Engineering organization, Mitchell’s Enterprise Performance and Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for the availability, efficiency, and performance of software production systems and services. This role will provide ongoing support to automate monitoring solutions for all platform systems and software infrastructure. You will work closely with Product Engineering, Security, and Software Engineering teams to ensure the availability, security, stability and scalability of on-premise and our cloud infrastructure. The role is a mix of Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering and DevOps.

    Essential Functions:

    The essential functions which this role will provide;

    • Assist in the design and implementation of scalable/automated monitoring and logging solutions across the enterprise, periodic reporting for platform service level agreements.
    • Job function includes monitoring and support web application servers (J2EE, .NET), databases, applications, networks and emerging technologies (Cloud, SQL, noSQL etc).
    • Run capacity and performance experiments to determine scaling and utilization parameters for various service tiers.
    • Experience implementing and managing enterprise-scale monitoring, trending, and alerting solutions. Write monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis.
    • Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure.
    • Provide service-based dashboards and KPI-driven reports for management and other teams.
    • Possess drive, desire, and ability to process and correlate data from multiple sources to derive root cause of complex performance and availability issues and provide solutions to resolve such issues.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Science Engineering with 8+ years of experience (OR Master’s with 6+ years of experience) with Application Performance Management (APMs) and  IT Operations Analytics (ITOA) such as App Dynamics, New Relic etc.

    • 3+ years of experience with distributed server performance analysis & troubleshooting. Experience working in DevOps environment.
    • Experience with system performance monitoring, log analysis, visualization.
    • Experience with web application servers (J2EE, .NET) including heap mgmt, GC tuning, etc.
    • Knowledge of Python and general scripting skills is heavily desired
    • Exceptional analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and determination.
    • Experience with data systems and/or database administration (e.g. SQL) a plus.
    • Strong automation skills using tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, etc will be a plus.
