    Job Description

    We are seeking a Senior “full stack” Software Engineer to serve as the tech lead for our operations, maintenance and support team. This position reports to Mitchell’s Content Management organization and is responsible for the operations, maintenance (design, build, test), and support of internal business systems and applications. These systems and applications support the acquisition, creation, transformation, and extraction of data into Mitchell product ready information.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the analysis, design, development, coding, debugging, testing, packaging, configuring and deploying of complex batch and online systems.
    • Lead the establishment and adoption of best-practice engineering standards within the team.
    • Lead all operational aspects of running complex batch and online systems, including scheduling, running, problem solving and reporting.
    • Work with business partners to drive and capture system functional and non-functional requirements.
    • Lead and mentor the team in providing 2nd-level internal support.
    • Lead and coordinate problem management activities, in addition to continuous process improvement initiatives.
    • Manage and be proactive in reporting, resolving and escalating issues where required.
    • Develop and maintain a team SLA and delivery of services to meet that SLA.
    • Proactively manage the team’s infrastructure.
    • Provide technical and thought leadership.
    • Lead software project estimating activities.
    • Consult with database administration on the design of logical and physical databases.
    • Participate in project planning and release management.
    • Identify, evaluate and recommend appropriate technology and techniques.
    • Interface directly with external vendors/data providers at a technical level to define data requirements and resolve data integrity issues.
    • Assists in third level support of systems and applications once delivered into Production.
    • Write technical specifications and test plans as necessary.
    • Conduct and assist in unit, load, performance, and integration testing.
    • Prepare documentation to standards for Information Systems Development, Data Operations, I.S. Operations, and instructional material for clients.

    • You have a well-established reputation as a technical leader.
    • You have 8+ years of hands-on industry experience.
    • You have great oral and written communication skills and are an excellent collaborator.
    • You enjoy and are good at mentoring and coaching other team members.
    • You have a passion for technology and a deep desire to create the best software possible.
    • You have participated in the operations, maintenance and support of existing systems and have an understanding of how those processes work and how to improve them.
    • You have knowledge of a wide range of software development technologies, including C#, CSS, Angular or React, Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL*Loader, SQL Server, T-SQL, Korne shell, Perl, Ruby and Python.
    • You are comfortable on UNIX or Windows.
    • You understand and design your applications to meet the “12-factor” methodology.
    • A preference for designing/constructing application code with very high code coverage.
    • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.


     Additional Items a Plus:

    • You understand and create designs based on the S.O.L.I.D. design principles.
    • A deep understanding of design patterns and anti-patterns.
    • Knowledge and development capabilities with .NET Core, Steeltoe and other container technologies, NoSQL databases and Cloud technologies.
    • Master's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
    • Experience with Agile methodologies, such as Kanban, Scrum and extreme programming techniques.
