    Job Description

    Seeking a talented and seasoned VP of Application Development and Software Engineering to lead Mitchell’s APD divisional engineering teams – across many Mitchell solutions and through all design, engineering and quality software development.  

    Mitchell’s APD division is delivering solutions which deliver the proper and safe repair of vehicles – in a time where vehicle complexity is rapidly evolving. You can play a part to ensure safety as consumers have their vehicles repaired.  Therefore, the ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing people, projects, technology, and innovation. 

    This leader must be an effective communicator, work well in a team environment, collaborate well internally and externally, and thrive in a fast-paced culture. The position will also partner with the Mitchell’s IT organization – and participate in Mitchell’s Technology Advisory Council. 

    On the technical front, this position will own all initiatives to architect and innovate our next generation of solutions -- executing on our roadmap, instituting best practices, and continuing to deliver an impressive suite of artificial intelligence capabilities. He or she should have experience in a hybrid onshore / offshore model and bring a proven background in building scalable data-driven platforms. 

    This is also a customer-facing role which requires extraordinary technical acumen, prior engineering management experience with a strong track record of leading talented engineers, and the ability to make effective technical decisions while collaborating cross-functionally. Mitchell’s culture is one of “All-In Quality Execution” – so scale and experience in dev ops is a plus. 

    This role reports to the General Manager of the Auto Physical Damage Division and helps steer the company as part of the senior leadership team. Partnering with Product Management, Engineering drives the ongoing innovation and evolution of our technology product platform and ensure products align to the strategy.  This leader will establish direction, standards and processes while maintaining a high level of trust and confidence with external and internal customers.  

    Qualifications

    Responsibilities:

    • Define the intersection of technical and strategic direction as a member of the APD cross-functional Senior Leadership Team
    • Promote a positive development culture including: innovation, improvement, professional growth, teamwork, design excellence, quality and ownership
    • Collaborate with other senior management, sales, operations, partners and customers to manage new product features and development roadmap
    • Lead strategic technological planning by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
    • Ensure continuous delivery of technical and support services with end users and monitoring of systems and software performance.
    • Contribute collaboratively within a creative and dynamic environment to ensure design and delivery of high quality, scalable, innovative, and configurable solutions that implement to high standards for architecture, security, privacy, and standard methodologies.

    Requires:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
    • 15+ years of leadership experience. Experience managing large teams across multiple time zones and countries
    • Experience with SaFe, SCRUM and Agile software development methodologies
    • 15+ years of hands-on software development experience, preferably with enterprise SaaS solutions. 10+ years with .Net or Java and SQL
    • Experience developing and managing enterprise scale SaaS applications, building HTML5/Angular based mobile applications, creating massively scalable APIs.
    • Experience managing Operations teams including teams that provide escalated support and manage the CI/CD platforms
    • Prior experience with managing test automation and QA teams
    • Knowledge of advanced analytics and AI technologies, including machine learning and computer vision to solve real life challenges is preferred
