    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:  We are looking for a Software QA Engineer 2 to design, develop, and implement test plans. They will perform acceptance test requirements for existing applications and perform debug and corrective actions where applicable. The candidate must have a broad understanding of computer systems and software standards. They must be detail-oriented and adept at anticipating user behavior and solving problems efficiently and creatively.



    • Reviews and provides analysis on requirements, functional and design specifications in support of Agile Software Development process.
    • Develops general test plans in accordance with good software engineering and quality systems practices, and with adequate sophistication to assure test coverage.
    • Follows and executes manual and automated integration, acceptance, regression and smoke test plans.
    • Contributes to the development of test harnesses for testing component parts and services.
    • Analyzes the test data. 
    • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts.
    • The ability to execute automated test scripts, analyze results and provide feedback.  
    • Documents system defects using the defect tracking system and according to company guidelines.
    • Provides feedback and input to continuously improve the integration test procedures, keeps them accurate and up-to-date.
    • Supports system configuration and test environment set up.
    • Collaborates effectively with project team members, other quality systems engineers, IS, Software, and Configuration Management.
    • Relies on interim guidance from more senior staff.
    • Other duties as assigned and/or required


    Education, Training & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related and specialized field.
    • Two or more years’ experience of software development and/or testing experience in Microsoft and/or UNIX and Java technologies. 

    Technical Competencies & Skills:

    • Proficiency with Windows development environment.
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
    • Working knowledge of testing applications developed with Microsoft tools (such as Visual Basic, C#, etc.) or other platforms and tools (such as Java, J2EE, database technologies, etc.) .
    • Working knowledge of testing tools like, Selenium, TFS, MTM, or other similar tools is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of file comparison tools.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills.
    • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Ability to self-motivate and be proactive.
    • Willingness to work with off-shore teams.  Able to work off-hours when required.
